Celebrating Our Gulf Coast Independent Physician Event Spring 2016

Est. Reading Time: < 1 minute

In May, Privia Medical Group – Gulf Coast hosted our largest independent physicians event to date! Over 50 local physicians joined us at River Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas to network with colleagues and hear from industry experts on upcoming changes in healthcare.  We were fortunate to have two keynote speakers from The Advisory Board, Michele Molden and James “Jim” Butler, to address the switch to value-based care and share insights on the positive future for independent medical groups.
A few highlights from the presentation include:

    • What you do today, determines how you get paid tomorrow: The type of services physicians provide in 2017 will affect payments in 2019. MACRA programs will be implemented on Jan. 1, 2019, but physicians will need to prepare now for either of two new Medicare payment tracks: Merit-Based Incentive Payment Systems (MIPS) or Advanced Alternative Payment Models (APMs).
    • Greatest Risk for the Smallest Groups: Solo and small practices are likely to be hit the hardest under new payment tracks. According to CMS, 87% of solo eligible clinicians will receive MIPS penalties.
    • Strength In Numbers: An integrated organization is necessary to navigate a successful path to a successful future.
